Pitfalls to Avoid in Character Education
- Do not keep parents in the dark - they are your number one allies.
- The program should not "belong" to a few enthusiasts but to the entire school community.
- Do not rely on posters, slogans, etc. Good character education is the quiet, steady developments of good habits and virtues.
- Avoid the "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. It is our deeds that really give witness.
- Do not neglect the opportunities to celebrate, model and communicate, and teach virtue in the hallways, cafeteria, playing fields and faculty rooms.
